Version 2.8 is here, and it’s packed with features that give you more control over your boards and make exporting your data easier than ever. Here’s what’s new

Text Variables for Banners and Print Headers

Text Variables for Banners and Print HeadersTired of retyping the same project details across your boards? Now you can use variables like {project_name}, {scenario_revision_name}, {date} and twenty others in your banners and print page headers, and Think Crew will automatically fill in the correct value. No more manual updates every time something changes.

To make this even easier, we’ve added a variable picker: just click the pop-up icon next to any field that supports variables, and copy any available variable straight to your clipboard. And the picker shows you the current value of each variable. So there’s no more guessing at variable names or wondering what the value of that variable is.

Introducing Duration View

Alongside Strip View and Calendar View, your boards now have a third way to visualize your schedule: Duration View. Each strip’s height reflects the scene’s duration, giving you an instant visual sense of pacing across your shooting day.

Want to adjust a scene’s length? Just drag the intersection between two strips to resize them. We’ve also added keyboard shortcuts that give you precise control over how resizing affects the other strips in that day, so you can fine-tune your schedule exactly how you want it.

A Much-Improved Exports Interface

We’ve overhauled the exports interface and added a highly-requested new option: exporting individual boards directly to Excel or CSV. These exports preserve your strip order and include every element on each strip, along with your banners and day strips, giving you a complete, ready-to-use record of your board.

Also, Movie Magic Scheduling exports have officially graduated from beta. Export your data directly to MMS format for archiving or to share with your producer with confidence.

Copy Your Day Out of Days to the Clipboard

Your Day Out of Days just got a lot more flexible. The DOOD now includes a copy button that copies the full grid straight to your clipboard, ready to paste into Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, or any other spreadsheet tool. Format it, rearrange it, and make it your own.

Lots of Other Improvements

Some of the other improvements include:

• If you’ve cut but not yet pasted, pressing the escape key will clear the clipboard
• Script cards now show the number of schedules that are using that script
• You can no longer delete a script if it’s being used in a schedule

Note: We Restored Some Deleted Scripts

We discovered that a number of scripts had been deleted by their users but were still attached to schedules. We’ve restored those deleted scripts to ensure that those schedules have access to them. If you had done this, you will now see those previously deleted scripts on your scripts page again.

To remove a script from a schedule, go to the Schedule Manager and click the X next to the script name. That will permanently remove the script and any strips that are in that schedule based on that script. You may then delete the script once it’s not being used by any schedule
