It’s been a busy few weeks at Think Crew. We presented to the DGA, and we’ve shipped more than twenty updates since our last newsletter. Here’s a recap.

Think Crew at the DGA 1st AD Committee

On September 26, the DGA 1st AD Committee invited us to present Think Crew to a live audience of first ADs as well as the general membership via Zoom. We gave a live demo of Think Crew, then answered questions from the members.

The response in the discussion afterward meant a lot to us. Many attendees agreed that they were impressed with the demo, and several said we were the best presenter of the day. Thank you to everyone who came, asked questions or stopped to talk with us afterward.

A special thank you to Committee Chair Mark Hansson and moderator Kelly Cantley for all their hard work putting the event together. We’re grateful for the chance to share what we’ve been building with the 1st AD community.

What’s new at Think Crew

Here are the biggest changes since our last newsletter.

Rebuilt strip interactions on the boards
We rewrote every strip interaction on the boards from the ground up. Dragging and moving strips is more reliable, and strips can no longer get detached from their scenarios.

A faster Think Crew
We overhauled how data is loaded across the whole site to speed things up.

One-click updates
Updating is now much simpler. When we release a new version, click the update button on the banner and you’ll be updated right away.

Better script revisions
Completely rewrote the revise scripts tool to give it more features.

Smarter script imports
Uploaded scripts should now need much less cleanup

Printing and reports

We added new reports and more controls for printing boards.

Other great updates!

• Calendars have a month dropdown that lets you jump up to a year ahead or behind
• Color pickers remember the last ten colors you used
• The strip designer has right-click menus for adding and removing columns and rows
• Duration View scrolls to the selected strip and shows scene start times after midnight correctly as AM
• Context menus stay inside the browser window and match your permission level
• System emails have a refreshed, consistent design
